As someone who has grown up in both Luton and Wakefield; I have spent most of my life surrounded by underrepresented people, and across my time at University have worked hard at representing all different types of marginalised people, as it's important that they feel just as represented as everyone else. I grew up watching a varied amount of different films ranging from chick-flicks like Clueless to comedy-horrors like Evil Dead 2 to straight-dramas like Shallow Grave, and this has provided me with the capability to enjoy different types of stories as well as understanding how and why they're made. Whilst at Northumbria University I put this to use; by writing drama, crime, romance, horror, and coming-of-age. I wanted to provide myself with the necessary experience to write different types of stories for different audiences. I personally find film and TV so important because of how it ultimately reflects ourselves and the world around us, but in a way which is more easily understandable than that of the real world. This is something that I know I could succeed in, and would love to be a part of.
